Has the virus cost you your job yet?
Lots of guy are down to “sweeping the shop” because of how many businesses are closed. Homeowners are not calling. The phones are dead.
His this crisis cost you your job yet? With the service industry getting crushed right now, how long can you hold out?

until grocery stores start closing, i think I will be okay
even if they close, still think they will have breakdowns.....

More mild winter than virus. Although I'm still waiting to figure out spring PMs-if, when. If it levels off and even decreases, I'll be back to 'normal'. If it gets worse, probably not do them unless it's a repair.
Come full AC season, (and you guys in the South now) combination of hot/humid, and everyone home doesn't look like a good thing.

Looks like where I work, hours are being severely cut.
I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

We have 3 guys seating home with no work, very few getting more than 20 hours a week. I'm busy but it all could change with a blink.
There is not better place for the working men than the union! 100% UA the only HVAC union!

Our techs and installers are slow. It’s that time of the year plus this virus. Made decision yesterday to make sure they are being paid regardless of the hours. They have families and still need to eat. Hopefully other contractors follow the same. It’s not always about the bottom line...

Larger companies the workers with seniority should be allowing the less senior guys get some hours.
This affects ALL of us and WE have to help each other as much as possible. It will end, 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks but it will end. Help out your co workers do not rely on uncle Sam!

Been doing just that, the problem is customers don't like new faces and not all service mechanics have equal skill-sets, the guys that can do my work are busy, the guys seating home are the rooftop jockeys.

With the mild winter we had, the in between seasons, and now this virus our shop is getting hit hard.
We have a cushion but that won’t last long with so little work coming in.

Might have to throw in the towel. I was informed this morning I may have been indirectly exposed.
Should know more tomorrow. Hopefully I can get enough work till the end of the week.

I realize but we have to share the small pool of water that’s available

Stay home until you know more.

He needs to go out and infect as many people as possible. Get this thing over and done with sooner than later. He has a responsibility to humanity.

I’m already quarantined. The building I’m in is empty. Nobody is allowed here. The only ones here are all in the same situation potentially infected by the same people. We were all already here when we found out this morning.

Nobody had symptoms, nobody is sick.
The group of us here all were around individuals that were around other individuals that are sick. One is a confirmed case.
Doctor doesn’t want me to get tested. I’ve called.
If I or any of us show symptoms we are going to get tested and go home.
There’s nobody here that is not potentially at risk. And like I said we are in the same situation potentially infected by the same group of people.

YES.
Mostly light commercial and residential business.
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and stamps EVER.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals". Their stated reason for this policy "... the animals become dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Just closed the casino and laid off 250 folks.

A local restaurant owner was in contact with one of the 1st that got it out here. He was advised to follow voluntary quarantine. He DIDNT.
12 days later he's been confirmand positive. How many people has he been in contact with in the last 12 days?
You can carry this disease 10 - 14 days with NO symptoms yet carry it and pass it on. It is not something to mess with.
There are not enough test kits available presently so no one knows if there OK or a Carrier!
Keep a distance from everyone
Were 3 - 4 weeks away from hitting the peak IF were lucky.

The resort I work at employs around 2500. Nearly 3000 rooms. Eighteen restaurants, food or beverage outlets, a commissary and two high-process banqueting kitchens. Main business focus is conventions and tourists. TENS of thousands normally pass through our doors each month.
This week, the rapidly escalating & harsh facts of this so-called pandemic has left the place a ghost town. MANY layoffs or furloughs decided on...virtually overnight. TONS of food removed from the many, MANY refrigeration units, then shutting them down and opening the doors. Also shutting off gas to cooking appliances, shutting off hoods - and turning out the lights.
Only ONE restaurant remained open today. That restaurant NORMALLY feeds over a-thousand through three meals, but they only fed thirty people when they shut down at their new closing hours of 2pm.
Our in-room dining kitchen had only taken FIVE meal orders as of 4pm.
In engineering, we're already on reduced hours, but I'm expecting similar scaling down to a skeleton crew before weeks end. Nothing has been said of that, but these things happened ELSEWHERE within hours of those folk's LAST DAY.
I'm surprise they haven't announced any suspension of operations yet like resorts in Las Vegas and Colorado have.
