I've gone to four trane heatpumps this week tripping the breaker.Yes I was all smile until I found the heaters bad.
    Damn it!

So whats up?? Did trane get a good price on them or is it now that they are control by a stat that the on and off design has shorten its life?

seems to be a timed mass failure,in the tampa bay area we have gone though loads of them this year.and yes they're made cheaper, just like everything else.

Yea, here too. Ain't hard to stop a Trane when the CCH shorts out. Worst is when they are stuck in and won't come out.

Is this in fairly new equipment or the 90's stuff?, I used to find this a lot back in the 90's, part # HTR1298, ordered so many I remember the number by heart

Yep the 3384 is the one we been replacing.

I did get a 2000 model with open windings today. It was install on a BWE airhandler, coils pack as well as the blower.

Will be replacing comp and driers tomorrow as well as cleaning blower and coil..good thing its in the garage.

Can't wait to see what the sh/sc will be once we get it up and running.

    Only five years old.

I have replaced quite a few crankcase heaters on mid/late 90's Trane compressors. The replacement one from Trane looks different, so hopefully won't be a problem. I'm not sure when new units started using the new CCH.
