We've just got a new large bowling alley as an account, an they have one of these. It is a large liquor dispenser made by ABC Dispensing Technologies which was formerly American Business Computers.

It's a really cool unit. It has a large rack that holds liquor bottles upside down, and is piped to two different bars. The bartender punches what type of liquor they want, and it dispenses exactly one or two shots, depending on the order. It's computerized to the register so that it rings up the order at the same time.

The problem is that some of the plungers are sticking because of the sweet liquor, and not dispensing properly or at all.

I have no clue about this system. I did some research online, and I can only find that the company is out of business.

Has anyone worked on these and can give pointers on where to find parts, how to service them, etc? I'd really appreciate any help you can give.

    Thanks,
    John

Do these systems dispense liquor only,or do they mix them with other ingredients?
The first question I would ask is,how often and what are the procedures for flushing and cleaning these systems.
Most sweet liquers contain sugar (hence the name sweet liquor)which over time will carmelize in the internal piping and gum up,hindering volume of product delivered.
I would check with the owner to see if he or she may have the technical information on this system. Then again if this company designed the prototype for this system they may be the only one with this information. You said they went out of business.Have you tried an internet search for liquor dispensing systems?Maybe you could try a liquor distributor to see what information they have,or if they know of a current company who makes similar products.
    Just trying to help,good luck...

    Thanks for the reply.

The unit only dispenses liquor. The bartender does the mixing.

I don't know how well they were maintained, but it appears not too often.

The internet search came up zippo. There's about a million pages about four-bottle dispensers, but nothing this complex.

I'm considering calling some of the large casinos in Vegas. I was told that these systems are pretty prevalent around there. Hopefully maybe a maintaince man would be able to help.

Locate a trade publication for that industry. Phone an assistant editor. Inquire if they remember the introduction of these systems into their marketplace. Ask them for insider information as to who would be available to answer your questions today.

This product did appear at some trade shows at one time or another.

This product did blow some minds, at one time or another.

This product was the talk of the town, for a little while.

Your jobs, should you decide to accept it, Mr. Phelps, is to locate an insider who knows this industry and remembers that product.

Then again, there are people who do this very thing for a living.
Hire a searcher to do the looking for you. It may only cost you a small fee. Small in comparison to what your billable time is worth.

Talking any info on abbc dispensing equipment

yep been there and done that, flush those line with hot water, especially if they are pouring alot of sweet liguer, its a pain in the but ,we have the same problem with soda guns ,if they run any kind of juice thru them after awhile the pulp or sugar starts gumming up the lines and flo controls ,offsetting the mixture, good luck.
if at first you dont succeed, then skydiving is not for you

We can help with ABC liquor dispensing equipment

    Hi Dorrman,

ProBar Systems can help anyone looking for service or info on ABC Dispensing Technologies equipment.

We have been the Canadian dealer and have worked with ABC since the mid 70s. We continued in the liquor dispensing business after they changed direction and eventually went out of business. We now manufacture equipment and we have parts & electronics updates available for ABC equipment. The dispensing hardware lasts forever..Hopefully your customer still has the equipment installed.

Please check out our site for more info. The updates page & testimonials have ABC information on them.

If anyone ever finds more equipment out there (they were heavily advertised to bowling alleys), we have a referral program and can offer you support for minor maintenance.

    Hope this helps...

Good info, it's a 7 year old post so hopefully he's past the problem now, but it'll definitely help the next guy who uses the "Search" button!
