    Hmm Carrier FX4 vs. FV4

Interested in the 3 ton Carrier Comfort Series condensor 25HCB636A, but not sure of which air handler to get. Looked at either the FX4 or the FV4 models. Any suggestions?

Want to get an efficient system, but don't want to overspend on extras.

FV4 air handler. Make sure that the coil is the tin plated model to reduce the risk of formicary corrosion. Also, Make sure you get the optional filter box vs. the washable filter that comes with the unit.

    Info on formicary corrosion.

With that 2-stage unit, I'd want the FV4 variable speed air handler, as above. I think most distributors are only carrying the tin-plated models now, but definitely something to check -- they come with a 10 year parts warranty (may require registration online).
