Flex seal.
I was walking through a hotel today with the maintenance man on the way to the washing machine that i was working on and as we passed a lader with a bucket catching water he points at this and says that flex seal stuff is worthless.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

I had a service call for a leaking T&P valve on a water heater, the water heater was installed without an expansion tank. I found a badly corroded length of the cold water pipe that was DIY repaired with flex tape. I was surprised to find out that it stopped the leaking for almost a year. I cut it out and repaired it. I'm sure glad she didn't try to repair the leaking relief valve with flex seal or flex tape!

I’m havin a hard time seeing this picture. Did they flex seal over top of the insulation? Or did they go directly to the pipe? Because it really looks like they just went over the insulation from what I can see.
Quickly, I must hurry, for there go my people and I am their leader!

I just bought flex seal tape to fix my bbq grill cover. I tore it last night taking it off the grill while it was covered in ice and snow. Hopefully it works.

I guess I need to look up what that is. I was so disgusted with flex products that I haven't looked at most of them. My boss bought flex shot when I sent him for a tube of clear silicone and he payed $12 for what amounts to an easy cheese can full of silicone.

The tape was $12.99 We've got 10" of snow expected over night and if any moisture gets in the hopper it causes the pellets to swell up and they'll get stuck in the auger. If it will get me by for a short while until I get another cover, I'll be happy. I may see if I can get a custom cover made that will last more than a couple years. This material is similar to that of my factory boat cover which lasted 4 years before the sun and elements got the better of it. I had a custom cover made for the boat and the material came with a 10 year warranty. It's on year 7 and still in perfect condition. I'd like something similar rather than having to drop $70 on a grill cover every couple years. The guy that did my boat cover is a master of his trade. He does custom car interiors and has won a bunch of awards.

There's a whole extended back story to this, but it's not that important. Basically one of our guys had two cracks at repairing a leak in a 2" domestic water line, as part of a larger building upgrade. Each repair requires a full drain down of a large residential building.
Today I head out there as it's still pissing water everywhere. No way I'm shutting the whole building down on a weekend. Don't judge me too harshly...
About 5 wraps of self-fusing tape and some rubber gasket material held in place by hose clamps later, all sealed up. Kind of proud of it.

The tape held up. Just brushed a foot of snow off the grill and didn't see any peeling.
