residential maytag refrigerator leaking water from freezer all the time
MF12269VEM5 is model of the unit. I am a HVACR technician but don't work on residential refrigerators
I have this unit in my house and the things has ice in my freezer section, and than leaks out the front right corner constantly. There is no drain that needs to be hooked up as far as I can see. The manual says nothing how to stop this, it probably is so simple fix but not sure what to do. It has been leaking since just after installation 4 years ago, and I have left a towel in corner to catch water but i need it fixed. Can someone tell me what is going on.

If there is ice on the back wall it would likely be a Defrost problem and if it has an ice sheet on the floor of the freezer it would likely be a clogged defrost drain.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

And if it is a reoccurring problem wrap a copper wire around the defrost heater and run it down the drain.

Probably not. It may just be poorly insulated around the drain or something.
Worse case scenario supco makes a little heat tape thing just for that problem.

Not unusual to have ice in the foam insulation. That intern keeps the drain hole froze up. I always used a piece of #12 or #14 house wire. Wrap it around the heating element and shove it in the drain hole.
