Mini Split Indoor Unit - Expected Life?
I know that we expect a 15 year life from mini split outdoor units, but what about the indoor unit?
In addition. Over 15 years, is a normal split system or a mini split more reliable?

That depends a lot on installation.
I know of several that were installed by another company and they have been nothing but trouble. We have installed quite a few over the last 15 years and the only problem we have had is a few leaks in the early days because of poor flaring practices and sometimes due to poor location we get ice build up on the fan blades during ice storms that causes it to throw a code but other than that we have had no real problems. I would say that they are much more reliable for us than traditional systems but the real test will be to see how they are doing after 30 years.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Usually mini splits are reliable in that they don't fail often, but when they so fail, it usually is time for replacement due to repair cost.
Indoor unit has exact same age length as the outdoor, as they generally must be replaced at the same time.
