Honeywell Webs JACE 8000 Locked out of Platform

Hey everyone, new to the forum. I'm a Property Manager that happens to be certified in N4, I'm fairly savvy with Niagara but not an expert by any means. I have a Honeywell JACE 8000 running N4 version 4.2.36.34 that had the original N4 engineer lost the username & password for the platform however I need to get into the platform. I do have a login for the Station if that helps. Only way I know to get into the platform is to factory reset the JACE. Anyone have any other methods? I saw something in a very old post but it didn't seem to work any longer.

In 4.3 or 4.4 they added the ability to reset it via a drawn out process involving Tridium and the distribution channel that sold the device. Since you are on 4.2, there is no option, you have to wipe and reload via a backup. This would require Niagara workbench. Do you have a a workbench license? If not you may have to eat the cost of a service call.

Like JSLLC4Life said its unfortunate that earlier versions doesn't have this option.

Pretty sure you can work around this with station access. Use the backup service to pull a dist backup.

    Then factory reset and restore.

Make sure you grab any odd ball modules. Might have to deal with blowing away the station passphrase as well.

In my testing a USB backup restored platform creds... so not an option unfortunately. Unless something changed since around 4.4ish
The post before that quoted one us the best option IMHO

No the backup on the USB is an encrypted file with no extension. It requires restoration to be decrypted. So it is locked under unknown creds on the JACE. encrypted and unreadable on the USB, then locked under unknown creds again on the JACE after restoration.
I had 'Breaking into an N4 JACE' as a project for a few mos in my little spare time a while back....
That being said, my IT skills are not as good as some on the forum. Someone might crack it, but it is not straightforward at all.

Had a peek at it today and yep, that's what I found.

USB backup is off by default as well. Only way to turn that on seems to require platform access.

So no help at all down that path.

so the only way to solve it is to bring it to a specialist or some kind of repairing station

Running 4.2, that's a pretty old version. 1, what are you running? 2, what is your SMA good up to? 3, if you have a back-up and WB 4.2, you could just default the station and rebuild. 4, what is the station used for?
