    Who needs returns anyways?

"It's Been that way for 20 years"
Passed a homes inspection before they bought the house, a city inspection at some point, and the gas company left a note that says "return air should be pulled from outside of the closet" Not to mention the plumber replaced the water heater 10 years ago and failed to notice somehow. 95 year old lady living in this for 20 years.
80k btu 900sq ft. home. When the blower is on you can hear the air pulling down through the tank's flue. 20 years of CO in the air sounds fun.

I am surprised you can hear anything over the blower.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

That's a mess. I have a friend who has one like that. It is disabled until they feel safe enough to let is come in the house and replace it.

Shouldn't that connection to the WH be a dielectric?

Probably the only thing more ridiculous than the builders for my condo could do. At least they put slats in the door.
80K BTU for a 900 sqr. ft. home? Isn't that a bit high? Unless there is no insulation in the place at all and it's in a cold climate zone.

No insulation or windows. Just holes in the wall for light.
