JCI FX-DIS1710 Remote Display Looking for Alternative Mounting Methods
The standard mounting is to cut a hole in the face of an enclosure. With that said I wish JCI would have a way to mount it directly onto a controller like the PCA. I have a few instances where the only option is to mount it inside the panel. Anyone else have the same dilemma and came up with some innovative mounting? TIA
If you can't fix it with JB Weld, Duct Tape, and Ty Wire it has to be replaced.

They do have controllers with the display integral.

Yes but not on the PCA, which is really short sided. I have projects where I have Tridium and another with SNE's so FX's and MS's with AHU's and I am doing a CP upgrade that has a 5 Slot and a DSC in that case I have a place to install the DIS in the face of the ENC-1000 but it is a PIA to have to open the door to access the DIS when everything (controllers, relays etc are inside the enclosure.
The PCA is a good controller but the haphazard lopsided PCX's are really poor choices of configurations for I/O's. All the controllers should be Universal Inputs and Configurable Outputs. The PCA should have had 12 or 15 of each. PCX's should start with 4 of each, then 8 of each then with one that is 8UI and one that is 8 CO.
Rant Over

I think JCI thought the MAP would magically take the place of that display which is now 14-15 years old.

No, the map is totally different.
The display, is..well, a display, and the map is not.

I think the implication was that using the map permanently connected to the PCA, the user can use a computer or mobile phone to log in (through MAP wifi) and view the data points.

Well, I suppose that would work (poorly), but I don't think that was ever the plan at JCI. The MAP was meant to be a commissioning tool, but could also serve as a front end for a small site so you wouldn't need a supervisor.
way too big of a PIA to take the place of a local display.
I miss the DX-9100. We just have to wait till this whole BACnet thing blows over, and N2 will rise up from the ashes.

We still have a couple of DX's out there. I have a site with a 5 Slot and a DSC in the plant. It's getting replaced next month, FINALLY. LOL

lol i agree it's a poor attempt at graphics without a BAS, but i remember that is what they use when starting up these YORK rtus. the JCI techs would use the MAP tool and use their phone to perform the startup. IMHO it looked like it was just some sort of cutback.

The best part is there is a York branded MAP that you need to talk to those York RTUs. You can’t just use a regular old MAP.

Things could change...Keep in mind, as of last January, I only work part time, and currently on some projects that have nothing to do with Metasys.
So I’m not in the know as much anymore.

I tested both MAP's using the current 5.0.1 firmware and can both commission controllers using CCT 13. The YORK MAP can't see JCI controllers in the devices menu. There are new touchscreen displays being released in 3 sizes as the DIS1710 is getting a little old.
