Off-topic: Skylights
I have a customer that has 2 skylights installed in their roof. Problem? They had this done while the roof was being done. The rectangular skylights are in place with the daylight just shooting into the attic.
Do they need to frame out the skylight dimensions and have it all rocked? Do they make a kit for these that you can use metal ducting? Trying to help them out here.

You'd think they would have thought about this ahead of time...

Frame out the opening and Sheetrock. It will need to be insulated if the attic is not conditioned.

I worked on a job where they installed those tube skylights and they got a couple of them in bad locations so now the attic has light. That was a huge mess of a job. The roofer didn't know it was going to be spray foam encapsulated so they installed improperly rated shingles and that was just a small part of the mess. Some builders are just not qualified. It made me glad that we don't do new construction very often.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Around where I live there are companies that specialize in installing skylights, and that extra framing, etc.
I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

every one I've come across was framed in sheet rock or other sheathing. usually angled outward going down as well.

Just make it a mini greenhouse for growing medicinal herbs. No one would even notice.

should have a nice bright attic during daylight hours! wtf were they thinking?

Extra attention needs to be given to the air barrier for this kind of framing and finishing or there will be enormous energy losses.
