York YCAV0157
Recently replaced screw compressor for York YCAV chiller, worried about timing on checking rotation? Can anyone inform me on how long I have to check rotation? System is VFD drive and can be shut down at system switch but takes a few seconds.

If you matched wire for wire at the compressor terminals should not be a problem. If unsure match the wiring diagram for wire numbers.
You have a minute or two to shut it down.

Yes system compressor wires were matched and identified upon replacement. If not correct, net oil pressure should not increase ?

Use a phase sequence meter on the drive output wiring.
Will only run a few seconds-2-3 minutes without lubrication before severe damage. Discharge check location also has a bearing on time.

I always pump some oil into the suction prior to start to prevent a " DRY START " never lost one on start up

You could close the oil line isolation valve and pump oil into the oil filter cover plate. A quart should do it fill the filter cavity and push down the oil passages into the bearings. A quart could be pulled out after the system settles down. Who knows could be pulling back a lot of oil with the new compressor.
