Could of been worse. I've found driers on discharge lines.

Stop being whiny and just turn the sticker around. That will fix it

But if they installed correctly the sticker would be upside down.

It's a solid core drier so that helped.

How long until that backwards filter/drier rubs through the TEV sensing bulb tube?

It happens on factory equipment too!

New install, I went to site to help out another tech. First thing noticed, solenoid valve was back to front. He said, "I installed it the same way as filter". Ignoring the silliness of his logic, found filter dryer back to front, evap to the right of CU. Thankfully he was only at the pressure test stage of install, easy fix.

I’ve seen 3 on a system. 1 in condensing unit, 1 outside the condensing unit, 1 at the evaporator.

I don't recall. Also don't know if they put it on the LL because they didn't know the difference between the liquid line and discharge line or if they replaced a discharge muffler with the drier because they didn't know what a muffler is.

Johnson controls heat pumps have a muffler and a filter dryer in the condensing unit most of the time.

Yes. Good eye! System not commissioned or even evacuated. But yes, I question how well the install tech purged nitrogen and kept pipework clean also. Was 'blue' on completion.
