Just found out about this, would have liked to read the fan array article, we just replaced a fan with a fan array and replaced a air handler that uses them.

I did - I seem to get an email from them every so often offering me access to the magazine. I always find there is something of interest and lighter reading than the ASHRAE journal.

There's a film on prime video about how hvac needs more young people. I read about it in the Sept issue. It's called Hot commodity.

Many of us started out in the industry long before other tech jobs existed. Now, if the HVAC industry wants to hire guys who can do the jobs that WE have done, they will have to start offering $70k a year, so I see the ability to fix a unit going down, and the willingness to replace an entire system with a bad run cap going way up.

Does the United States have low numbers in the trade? Where I am located in Canada the trade seems to be saturated with techs.
How do you receive a free copy of the RSES Journal?

In the area of Canada I’m in the employers are having a hard time finding skilled techs.
I think right now we have a surplus of unskilled techs and a shortage of skilled techs. The industry was a little slow on the ball to get new people enrolled. I saw a lot of new guys enter the trade with no desire to learn. I have no idea why the signed up, just didn’t seem to have an interest in it. I’m not sure where all of them are now but I know at least a few of them have left the trade and switched paths. I think the schools were pushing hard for graduates to join trades and we got a surge of techs who were looking for an office job right out of the gate.

I finished watching today. It is professional but turns out it's just a recruiting film.
