    Thermopile

Hello, I just installed a Honeywell thermopile in a 2019 water heater. ( AO SMITH ), now the part that I ordered would not come in until next week, as I am working on a commercial water heater. The universal part that I had in my truck came with different ends, so I ended up removing said ends, and added Vinyl Insulated Female connections to the thermopile, hooked it up into the gas control and it worked. After going home, I feel like something I did was not very safe, am I overreacting here?

Thermopiles and PG9's have a positive and negative, yes? Did you get the polarity correct?

As long as you keep the polarity correct your make shift connections should be fine.

I wouldn't do that to a thermocouple though.
