    Double flare

EPA mandated new equip mfgs to reduce or eliminate flares to reduce leaks and use double flares where required. Most went to flat face o-ring fittings.

Do you use double flare tools?

    difficulty?

    opinions?

I started using double flare this year. I am still getting the hang of tool so it often takes me a couple of tries but it is totally worth it.

Edit: since when did the EPA mandate no flares? I haven't seen any changes yet?

double flares have no better chance of working than single flare ones if its not done correctly to begin with... I'm a Car/Truck and Bike guy, done thousands of them...Done thousands of mini splits with single Flare, i also us the oil on mating surfaces..never any issues if you use the right tools with my torque tool that i always had for engine/transmission and axle rebuilding(and crow foot)and follow the Mfg recommendations....
