    Confused Heat Pump Output Calculation - Help!!!

    Hi,
    Does anyone here know how to calculate heat pump system ouput? Let's say I want to swap heat exchanger to more effective one, or refrigerant to less harmful one. How do I calculate overall performance of the system based on components, before actually swapping and taking physical measurements? I understand, that performance varies by temperature difference, but let's assume it's constant, controlled environment.

    Check with mfg data easiest.

    Fairly easy to calculate capacity in heat mode, more difficult in cooling mode (must have wet bulb and heat content tables).

    Entering air db exiting air db. Convert both to ethapy. Use constant to multiple.

    Papers out their on. Done it before very easy if you have the right tools.

    You need the return wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures, supply wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures, and actual CFM (not an assumption). Find the enthalpy of each the return and supply using a psychrometric chart or calculator, then use the following formula:

    (CFM * 4.5) / (Return enthalpy - Supply enthalpy) = BTU/hr

    Also, is it possible to get higher COP than compressor COP rating? Or the compressor COP is the most you can get from the system?
