ICM493 Surge Protection
Howdy, Has anyone used or had any experiences with the ICM493 MOV Surge Protector. Thinking of ways to add value to our High End Equipment that uses communication or that has Circuit boards . We normally use TPSPD . Just looking for new/better ways to protect these systems. Thanks for your input

Have not used that one but we do use the ICM517. Truck stock item for us. You cannot sell what you don't offer.
-
The only issue I have with any Surge Protector is there a 1 shot deal and unless checked the homeowner wont know if its good or bad.
Voltage and phase monitors are a different story.

I would look into the lightning and surge protection made by Delta I've installed tons of those. I've done a lot of research on them as well and I think they're pretty much the best units out there.
By the way it's a whole house surge and lightning protection so I feel like customers like the idea of that more than just something that protects a single unit.

The delta ones can take a spike up to 100000 amps. You'll know if they're bad because they either melt or the bottom blows off. 1 shot deal is better than no shot I suppose.

I recently heard about these.
They use something called a gas discharge tube if I am remembering correctly to disipate spikes and a MOV as backup.
My understanding is that the MOV does a better job of controlling the spikes but the discharge tube takes most of the load off of the mov so that it will last longer.
Eaven when the MOV is spent the discharge tube will continue to offer some protection.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Bunch of M12 batteries there...
Just ordered a Milwaukee M18 string trimmer for the yard... comes with a M18 8A battery...
Battery will stay in the van...

How about 3 phase 4 wire.....120/240 delta system?
Would one device on phases A & B and then a second device connected to B & C sound correct?
B phase (wild) is about 210 VAC to ground/neutral.

I don't really know what a three phase 4 wire Delta system is but isn't that what a phase monitor is for?
Edit I wasn't thinking. The phase monitor is only a monitor not a surge suppressor.

I saw that m18 trimmer in the supply house the other day! I really like the Milwaukee stuff. I use a lot of m12 stuff since I very rarely do installs but I do have some m18 stuff for when I need more power.

Have you seen the new MX stuff... talk about power!
Concrete saw... used to be a 4-5 HP gas engine... now runs on a battery!
Milwaukee is stepping out with endless really useful battery tools...
I suspect small engines are gonna become museum pieces by the end of the decade.

I get emails couple of times a week directly from Milwaukee...
Next time I get one that includes the MX stuff... will post a link.
What concerns me... and this is an ARP comment... is what happens if TPTB ('that' political party)...
Decide to do something not friendly to freedom...
However lets take that discussion to ARP...

Because I don't care about the rest of the house.
