    WIF out on high pressure

OK, this is a strange one. Typical walk-in freezer with outdoor condensing unit.

    About a 2hp Techumseh
    404a
    2 condenser fans
    Headmaster control for low ambient
    Pump down system
    Bohn, 3 fan Evap

Got called for high temp, found condensing unit short cycling. Put on gauges and saw it was cycling on high pressure switch. Both condenser fans ran when compressor ran. They were also spinning in the right direction.

Sprayed some water on the coil and when the hp control reset, the unit started and stayed running. The pressures all leveled out with about 108F condensing temp. The freezer temp came down and all was well.

I took time and cleaned the condenser coil really good and left.

Next day, same problem. The customer threw a pail of water at the coil, and the unit started up and stayed running!

    THIS IS NOT MICRO CHANNEL.

    Im stumped, or missing something.

That didn’t even occur to me. The headmaster is less than a year old.

If it was stuck, wouldn’t the pressure stay high. Once this thing gets started, the pressures are normal.

Are the fan blades and motors of original design....RPM etc?
I have seen blades installed that were for opposite rotation....maybe one of them is?

I'm on the flooded control also. Cut it out and see if the problem goes. If yes, get a new one.

Is the equipment 1 year old, or the HM one year old?

Feel the 3 lines in/out/bypass lines and see what "mode" the headmaster is in.

It was only doing it on hot days, after coming out of a defrost. Headmaster was working fine. Sub cooling was in the 50’s. Removed some refrigerant. Got sub cooling down. I think it was over charged. We will find out today at noon. It’s going to be 92 degrees today.
