Mobile home hvac
Recently I got my whole hvac system replaced in my double wide with a 4 ton Goodman but it’s not working properly. Had 3 technicians come by already and can’t fix the problem. The unit runs all day long and does not cool to desired temp. All have checked Freon levels and have stated they’re where they should be. Only time it cools to temp is at night once it’s already cool outside. Looking for help/advice, greatly appreciated. From Cleveland TX

What does the "Load Calculation" BTU/Ton call for? What size system was replaced? What does the "double wide" Mfrg call for? How many Sq Ft? What are the measurements,L x W X H ? What is desired temp?

Should check to make sure non of the ducts under the home are disconnected. And make sure the ducts are properly attached to the unit.

A new install and 3 tech later I would hope that was already looked at

None of the technicians went under the house. All just hooked up gages and took a look at the coils inside. I will have to make sure and go under there to check.

Where can I find the load calculation? The last unit was also a 4 ton the house is 2k sqf and I’m setting temp to 73 and only gets down to 78 last night it was 84 degrees in there so I decided to turn off because it wasn’t making a difference.

Usually it’s on the sticker near the furnace.

I will look at it once I get home.

TXV or Piston metering device, if piston that part needs to be matched to the OD unit, not the ID unit on your matched system.
What size piston is in there if piston?

Was not aware that Goodman made a system approved for mobile homes.
That said, the ducting on mobiles is very restrictive and systems designed for them have a much higher operating static pressure to move the required air.
Did your guys check air flow?

I agree with checking ducts, I have seen several disconnected or leaky.

More often than not, techs don't crawl under the home and check the ducts.

They did not check air flow, they didn’t do very much. All the guys that came by seemed very green. If there’s anyone here in the Houston/Cleveland area that needs work I need help contact me.

Guide ( Dated 2015 ) says to use the piston that came with the OD unit, and they give the size for matching equipment. So what size is in there if you have a piston? They should magic marker the size on the Air Handler so the next working slob, knows what’s in there. The indoor coil could or could not already have that size from the factory. Rookies may not know that. Certainly leaking ductwork as mentioned on the return side is a good place to check.
Make sure to register your equipment as manufacturers warranty decreases significantly if never registered. What brand was in there before the Goodman and was that brand approved for mobile/manufactured homes, as Juan Madera has a good point about Goodman not being rated for mobile home use, I’m sure that part does not bother some Contractors thou.

Where would I see what size piston? And once I get home I’ll check the previous one brand name.

Unfortunately the piston metering device is internal just downstream of the nut by the 3/8” liquid line by the indoor section. Goodman also makes a field installed OEM TXV if your coil came with the piston as another option. What do you have? , a existing furnace and cased coil, a Air Handler, straight A/C , a Heat Pump with a furnace and coil, a Heat Pump with Air Handler? The only real way to check it is pump the refrigerant into the outdoor unit ( if the OD unit can hold the total charge ) then open to look at it. You can try asking the crew if they used the one that came with the Air Handler or the one that Supposedly comes with the OD unit. The one that comes with the indoor section could easily be the correct size, but it’s not 100% guaranteed.
1st thing I would do is check your ducts, especially the return side as that’s the side that sucks in surrounding ambient air. Ask for a seasoned experience Tech. I would have them verify your piston is the correct side, and have them check your blower speed and static pressure and the superheat/subcooling is to manufacturers spec. Here is the install guide that discusses how to field charge your system.
Used the GSX14 as the guide, https://www.alpinehomeair.com/relate...ons%202019.pdf
Dated 2019 starting on page 7, says OD temperature needs to be a minimum of 60 degree, and system must run a minimum of 10 minutes before adjustment or checking system. Goodman wants the temperature probe 4”-6” on the suction line from the compressor.

A coil on top and blower and furnace at bottom

OK so you have a existing blower assembly and just changed the indoor coil and OD unit?
Your 1st post says you got a “Recently I got my “whole “ hvac system replaced in my double wide “
Then this “ This is the one I have inside“
What’s the indoor model number of the Goodman and OD unit, can at least tell you if you have a matched Goodman, whether it’s made for your mobile home may be another story. The blower section does say made for manufacturers home on the last page.

A coil on top? Is this an upflow or downflow furnace?
