Somewhere in the data plate, probably says for indoor use only. On the bright side there is plenty of easy access to panels. No need for a auxiliary drain pan.

I've seen the same since I moved to n.j from n.c and it's crazy that anyone with a EPA license can just walk into a supply house and buy equipment it blows my mind.

Like this forum isn't full of so called "professionals" doing the same or worse. I have a friend that is a manufacturer's technical support representative, he had a contractor call wanting a letter saying it was okay to mount a 90% gas furnace on its back. Oh, the furnaces were mounted in boxes on the roof.
Actually I have three friends in that department, some of the stories they have are amazing.

I wouldn't go to the extent of saying "full of" because I'd like to believe techs coming here are more interested in doing things right as opposed to wrong.

Everybody's got a friend that work's here or there in this field and you can't believe everything you hear.
I'm sure if there was a contractor actually asking this they either are not licensed or are using someone else's license number....maybe even a handyman 😂

Then not only does he have zero business being in this trade, he is a moron!!!!!

Zero common sense and knowledge of basic unit operation.

I'm sure my face changes when a customer tells me, "It ran that way for 10 or 20 years", or what ever the case may be. I usually say something like, so did that Volkswagen you had in college" and we both usually laugh at that point. Usually, after talking with them for a while, they start letting little things out that tell the truth and then they realize, they have always had problems with it.

actually, if a tech or owner comes here and post something like this as a masterpiece of ingenuity, they get beat down and goaded into going back and fixing their mistake.
