    Want to sell refrigerant

    Hello,

I am not in the HVAC business, my father was. I have two drums of refrigerant, one each R11 and R500 that I would like to sell legally. I have not weighed either but believe both to be full of new, unused refrigerant. Any suggestions as to the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated.Name: Freon.jpg

    Thanks,

The r-500 is pretty much garbage, nobody uses the stuff anymore, R-12 on the other hand has value specially with classic car owners.
There is not better place for the working men than the union! 100% UA the only HVAC union!

That is what I saw also...

There is not much use for R11 that I am aware of...
It is used as a flush solvent... however releasing it is a HUGE no-no, EPA laws... big fines.

    Sorry... will pass...

Suggest to go to a local supply house and chat with the branch manager...
Guy might know someone that has a use for them.

Thanks to all, that's the information I needed. I'll talk to a local supply house about disposal.

Think that is only when used as a refrigerant.

    Hmm...

Is it OK to release it... as long as it was not used as a refrigerant???

So the compound will only damage the atmosphere if it is released from a refrigerant machine...
However if it is released some other way... it is safe???

Sounds like the junk science the left promotes...

Just like those cans of dust off and such. Spray all day long if you want. The EPA rules that govern our trade are for refrigerants. When not used as a refrigerant, they are not governed under refrigerant guidelines. At least that's the way they used to read.

R-500 was used in some residential a/c units in the 60's and 70's.i remember using it on an old residential Carrier A/c unit, which had a small semi-hermetic compressor.Yes,Not kidding. This residential carrier unit had a small semi hermetic.R-11 is a great refrigerant for cleaning out a burn-out,or flushing out a system.Unfortunately, not legal any longer.I used it to clean out systems many years ago.i believe r-11 was also used in centrifugal chillers, but that was also years ago.As noted ,not good for much today.

You might be able to donate the R-11 to a Military Base, try an Avionics Base. I know they were still using it 10 to 12 years ago to clean boards and electrical components up. Yeah, I was shocked!
