Those are history, PSC motor. Sure don't remember a Y2 on the board. Is there a Y1 also? What's the full model #?

    History? It’s a 17....... .

Hopefully it doesn’t have a y2 so I can play around and throw after market relays on moms unit so I can slap in a 2 stage ac

PSC motor 'speeds' are not actually different speeds - they are more like different HP points. So the end-result 'speed' is highly dependent on duct static - that is: the end-result 'speed' is dependent on the 'slip' of the motor. The various speed taps reduce available HP to the point where it cannot overcome the discharge static and it slows because it is physically (not electrically) over loaded.

If I were going to do what you are suggesting I would wire an NC closed contact to supply power to the cooling-speed you are using now and wire the NO contact to supply power to the same speed wire but series it through a motor speed controller. They are cheap - less than ten dollars - and will enable to to dial the suction temperature to down where it should be on the low speed AC mode.

I keep hearing that they tear up motors - but so far that has never happened for me.
