Yes; it is gross - but I find it better in the long term to focus on the net.

Sure that upfront cost is low because the quality matches the price. Unfortunately you'll be buying that same item multiple times over because of this.
On the other hand, had you bought a higher priced better quality item the long term investment would pay off many times over.
    I remember a lady-friend many years ago...
(I knew we were not gonna move in together or get married... so I could be honest with her... )

She was one of those folks that saw ONLY price... nothing else...
Then complained endlessly about poor quality.

So I bought her 2 blouses (shirts) for Christmas... they looked almost identical...
One was from Walmart, the other from Target.
The Target one cost about 2x the Walmart one.

It worked out, she liked the Target one more than the Walmart one, and wore it more.

As predictable... the Walmart one lasted about 6 months...
The Target one (being worn more) lasted about a year.

I pointed this out to her...
And was given the silent treatment for a week (peace and quiet... YEAH)

(Anyone not understand why she was not on the short list for an extended relationship??? <G> )

The way I understand it, for our military to be as awesome as it is, relies heavily on communication. Which also means things like GPS to guide our missiles. Which means our satellites are critical.

And there is where the problem lies. China has made destroyer satellites. Satellites designed with the sole intent to destroy other satellites. There's a couple [or few?] other countries that have done the same. As I understand it, we have not done that.

So the instant any military action we would take against China, they would begin taking out our satellites.

    Read an article recently...
Our Marines are training for an old fashioned ground war...
Not the high-tech war we have been geared up for.

Yes... communications is the achilles heel of the high tech military...
    That works both ways.

Trained ground troops... who are effective (grin)...
Along with special ops folks that go behind the lines and take out key things...
Are how a war is won...

That is, IF the leaders want to win...
Which has not been the case for decades...
    Until recently!

    Thanks for the info.

Note to self: First, we take out the Chinese destroyer satellites.

I meant that your extremely destructive outlook is gross.

But I'll forgive it if you answer this riddle:
How does somebody post a new thread on here? My glycol chiller keeps tripping on high discharge pressure but the reset switch doesn't "click", fi you know what I mean, and I am able to reset it on th epanel. O I think it's a false alarm, an instrumentation problem, but I'm not sure. And I wanted to post that question in a new thread. You know how to do that?

    You got it.
Which actually has Russia in the lead..they can go to space...do a mission..come home and be back in space the very next day....Obama dismantled our shuttle program /it wasn't comparable...but it at least was something.
In a nutshell..the manned ship can seek out the satellites even the destroyers and take them out..leaving them with the advantage.

I suspect our guys know what to do... to win against China...
After all, our CIC (commander in chief = POTUS) is a win guy, not a stalemate guy...
