Must be a proven design as it looks like it’s been working that way for awhile...

At least it's up on a roof and not in somebodies back yard! Not saying it's right, but it could be worse.

He should’ve bolted a second fan blade on top to improve performance.

Are you sure that's not OEM design. It sure looks well thought out for a hack job. For a hack the hole would have been bigger because it would have been more off center.

Couple years back I was on a roof of a strip mall trying to get some pictures of a hacked install. Didnt notice as i backed up for a wide frame picture that someone had done that on an old BDP with a horizontal motor mount so the shaft was sticking about 6" out of the unit while running. That shaft sucked up my work shirt, ripping the shirt straight off me and pulling me backward just enough for the shaft to drill a 1/2" hole into my back.

OUCH! If one hack, probably another ready to reach out and grab ya.

I've see this several times. One of the "issues" with "fits-all" parts..... Hack probably did not own a hacksaw!

It only hurt( blinding rage hurt )while it drilled into me, couldnt even feel it after but I had taken off my undershirt and left it in the truck and the work shirt is gone. I had to walk the whole roof to the Safeway, down the ladder and walk out thru the front door. Bleeding like a stuck pig in the back and NEON white in the front, it was more embarrassing walking past all the college girls, sucking it in and trying to play it cool
