super saber screws are sharp AF

thought it would be a good way to spice up my morning. Thought I had my finger in the right spot on the backside of the metal. They dig into the flesh pretty quick..... 5/8 screw so what 3/8 into the finger. The worst part was fumbling to get the gun in reverse to back it out.

It went in and grabbed on?
If I do a job in 30 minutes it's because I spent 30 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minutes.

I still remember decades ago, when I first got into the trade, only a week or so in. I was told if I accidentally put a screw into my finger, don't pull it out, put the drill in reverse.

Gawd, the thought of drilling a screw into my finger sounded pretty absurd. Who would do that?

As time passed, and experienced gained, I came close several times, but those words would begin replaying in my mind. And I would say to myself, thank you Brian.

I said that, because his name was Brian.

Yes it grabbed very well. Pulled my finger into the metal. Took about 10 seconds to get the drill in reverse to back it out.

I was swapping my in the field band aid (electric tape and to) to an actual band aid and ointment when I snapped the pic. It was about 5 hours after it happened. Started bleeding pretty heavy after I took the pic and fumbled for the band aid.

OOCH! I know what that feels like. Unfortunately. Just not that deep.

It only has to happen once.
Can someone please explain to me -
Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time, but plenty of time to do it twice?

Ouch. Happened once to me when the screw slipped on the metal and ended up right behind my thumb. Didnt hurt at first because it happened so fast. It sure as hell hurt when I backed it out though

Was changing my band aid this morning and as soon as it came off it started bleeding again. This one may take a few days to heal over.

Been there done that, once, a long time ago.

Trying to remember if the screw was worse than the 1/8" drill bit . . . and no I am not going to do them again to remember.

    Did that myself.
    You are totally right.
I remember screaming, and my lead calmly looking at me and saying "Mike. stop. Put the drill in reverse."

I can still feel it reversing out of my thumb when I think about it.
"Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."

"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."

    "Just get it done son."

    Dad adjusted

Never a screw, but nail gun, TWICE, slow learner. One nail through the finger, the other in the wrist.

Purely out of curiosity, we’re they both into the same hand at the same time? I’m sorry someone had to ask.

When we were building dads house, mom was holding the studs as dad was nailing them. Guess one of the nails curled out and hit moms finger. Guess she learned to not hold he hands so close to the bottom plate.

Dad said he was building a railing for steps and shot a finish through his thumb and pointer finger. That one had to suck pulling out.

Two separate times, and the nails were framing nails. I actually went to the ER for the wrist one. The nail was pretty deep.

I put a screw in my hand in front of my wife, she didn’t know it happened at first. I looked at her and said ‘this is going to hurt’ she asked ‘what will’ as I slammed the drill into reverse and shouted a couple profanities.
