    Confused Trane Headache

I have Trane CGAFC30 intellipak chiller low suction 40psi pressure low head pressure 160 trips on low pressure and short cycles cannot find a leak ? could it be leaking in the barrel into the chilled water evaporator ?

yes it can. or between circuits but that is rare. it could be that a leak was repaired and the circuit wasn't fully recharged. it could be that someone removed charge due to a dirty condenser coil and then someone else cleaned it. it also could be a faulty expansion valve. you haven't provided much information.

2 compressors one circuit with one compressor normal pressures then second compressor kicks in and pressures fall to 25 psi then goes off on low pressure after 3 restart comp 1 trips breaker did a megohm test 200 tests good added dye not seeing leaks on coils or lines, did find belly band heaters not working burnt switch on contactor don't know if flooding the comp is occurring.

If you don’t know whether or not it is flooding back, than you haven’t done your job yet. You need to actually put your gages on it. You need to put your temp sensors on it. You need to log the machine under various situations (1 compressor running then 2 compressors running) to determine the health of the machine. Do that, then get back to us. If can’t do that, you may need to find another line of work. Never rely on the display until you have verified the display is accurate.
