    Dust mask companies laugh all the way to the bank

    Those dust masks cant even stop Sheet rock dust !

    Go sand a room with your favorite dust mask and then tell me how much white crap you blow out your nose that night ....

    Only the Chinese ones. The ones in the states haven't picked up any orders.

    As for effectiveness sand the drywall without a mask and see how much you get.

    Just like with furnaces or air handlers, filter efficiency makes all the difference.

    Some are better than others. If you get a cheep one then it really doesn’t do much except it might protect others from you, just not you from others.

    I got some N95 at home I use for carpentry work and it does a good job with that. I avoid drywall like the plague so haven’t had the “privilege “ of trying it in that scenario yet. I would most likely just throw on a proper respirator for that job.
