    Gas piping at its finest!

What do you do when you need to convert a fire place to a gas insert? Run your gas line exposed.
First, cut off any unused lines, but don't remove the existing piping.

Remove the elbow and add a union, but don't add a shut off.
Next, run the black iron pipe below the doorway.

Then transition to flexible gas line. Make sure to cut away enough of the yellow protective plastic.

Let's add a shut off, once again removing that annoying yellow plastic.

And that, my friends, is how you get low bid. Not many return customers, but who needs those.

Sad fact: this did not even get noticed by the home inspector when the home was purchased.

Hard to believe a home inspection could miss that.

Even harder to believe the homeowner missed it....most wives would hate seeing anything like that exposed for plain esthetic reasons....
