The only way to beat covid 19 is to become covid 19. If only our scientific s could figure a way to do that.

Anyhow... Local city and county schools are sending forms home doing a survey on what kids have hi speed access at home and a computer or pad they can use.

To me the corona virus has been out already for a while. I rarely every go to the doctor. So about 2 months back I had a cough for about 3 weeks. My wife had a cough for about 3 weeks. She Went to the doctor to get medication. She took the medication 1 or 2 weeks worth. The medicine finished and she still has the cough. After about 3 weeks it cleared up. I know a lot of people that had the 3 week cough/feeling down thing. Doctor never do any testing. They ask you a few basic questions then sign you up for a z pack antibiotic. But in reality a stronger virus is out and the regular anti biotic don’t kill it. Until 1 doctor decided to do a real test on an individual and found a new bacteria. How can 1 person in the middle of New York City get the virus? How can 2 people here in Miami,Fl have the virus but millions surrounding the same area do not have it. It does not make sense.

If that is so, who is going to do all the HVACR work?

We are upset when they cancel attendance to ball games, restrict travel and ask people to self quarantine when they feel sick.

We go into panic mode which causes the stock market to drop which increases our panic which causes the market to plunge deeper.

Common sense would carry us so far with this illness but the panic fires have been lit and the media loves to fan the flames.

That's the job of journalism. Reporting. Would you rather nothing was said? Or played down so people later might ask "Why didn't someone tell us." I'm sure that isn't your point.
Common sense doesn't seem to have a place at this table for many. We had a woman this morning $itching about an event being cancelled claiming ethnic prejudice.
We have Limpballs saying (report in the paper) this virus is nothing worse than the common cold. Going further that it's just fear peddling by the dems trying to win an election. Talk about a disservice. Tell that to the ol'folks homes.
Trump saying he has a "natural" understanding of things like viruses. Huh???

I do have a question, Why when most any emergency crops up do people hoard toilet paper. Or bottled water when it's free at the tap. Why stockpile the most useless crap like cookies and Doretoes when rice and beans would be a complete protein. Buy flour and learn to bake bread.

An 8 minute CDC video. The virus and prior viruses are from the wet markets in China. This is the real deal folks. This is very, very bad, not a hoax. As a skeptic I don't trust the news or what comes from the government and have not for some time now. However, this video plus phone calls with a few people I have contact with over seas has me convinced we are in big trouble with this virus that clearly came from China.

These wet markets with all sorts of creatures not fit to eat as well as filthy conditions are the breeding grounds for this Corona and other illnesses. Now with a global economy we have made it easy to transport a virus across the globe in hours.

Watch the video, it is short and to the point.

I can see it already, someone in the stands standing up and yelling:

GET HIM OFF THE COURT, HE'S GOT THE CORONA

Then, of course, he'll be escorted out.

    Getting serious or overreaction?

No not talking played down, but also not over hyped which is what we have now. Common sense would tell most people, "I don't feel well I should not go (school, work, ball game, plane flight, etc, you get the idea)". However that is not what we are seeing. There was a lady in Omaha she had been symptomatic for 2 weeks and went to a ball game as well as other places. Common sense would tell you I need TP and sanitizer masks but not a 2 year supply, leave some for others". This is where the selfish part comes in also. The "I want it or want to do it so to hell with anyone else" attitude is in full view for the world to see. I feel it is terrible to cancel the roundball games but when you have idiots that will still go with green ooz coming out of their ears because they want to and it's their right is the reason it has to be done. If they would use common sense the rest of us would not be as inconvenienced. It would also not be affecting the markets as much. To date the biggest casualty of this illness is the stock market. I understand the issue of the supply chain but even that should not be causing the ripple affect we are seeing in the financial markets. Here again media induced panic is causing the problem. This panic is causing harm to people that are not sick. Retired people are losing thousands in retirement income that they may never get back. For us that are still working we have time to recoup some if not all of it, but those retired are screwed.

Just turned on the news. They had a story about a high-schooler's play being cancelled. A play she had been rehearsing for, for a couple months.

The irony? The play was "Sense and Sensibility".
