Heat pump amperage

I am new to the heat pump design and operation.
On the engineering data for a Mitsibushi MXZ-3030NAHZ2 it shows a graph where as the temperature went down the amps decreased from about 5 at 65 degrees down to 3.2 at 5 degrees. This seems counter intuitive - can some one educate me?

It seems that amperage corresponds to heat absorbed into system & the compression ratio created as a result. There’s much more heat being absorbed by outdoor coil (as evaporator) which has to be rejected by indoor coil (as condenser).

Also if this is a Mitsubishi with an inverter compressor its running speed and amp load will vary with heat or cool load similar to a frequency drive.
