No contract for the condenser, it is existing.

I think post #13 by hvacvegas hit it on the head.

You do not necessarily need a 2 stage furnace to run a 2 stage a/c, but you will like the increased comfort and noise from having a 2 stage furnace.

    THIS ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Is why we always write out what is gonna be done in a Proposal, then go over it with the customer,
    BEFORE it is signed.

    Then, if a mis-understanding happens...
    It is in writing.

The sad thing about our industry... which is not only our industry, however most businesses:
Is the sales guy just wants to close a sale.
IMO the sales guy SHOULD be absolutely sure you know and want what is on the Proposal/contract...
BEFORE he hands you the pen to sign.

ANYTHING less than having the customer's best interest at heart...
    IMO is bad business.

    To the OP...
You are gonna have to get with your sales guy and determine who mis-understood what...
If you are not satisfied... go to the gen mgr or the owner of the company.
If you are still not satisfied... you 'can' jump ship...
    However...

Quality contractors are not that plentiful...
Be very careful if you decide to go shopping for a new contractor...
You may well find that you jumped out of the frying pan, into the fire...

Ever thought that the installer could be wrong?! I mean its not like weve seen installers who think they know it all when in fact. They dont

Post the model number of your condenser and we can tell you if its a single or 2 stage.

    Here is a thought...

A 2 stage VS furnace... can easily be set up with a 'de-hum' cycle... which gives part of the potential comfort of a 2 stage AC unit.

If your HVAC guy does not know how to do this...
Suggest you find one that does... and keep them!
