    Another Trane 2.5ton

    Same building as the 7.5ton

    This one was also grounded and blew its charge when i got to it. Blower was also LRA.

    This was a 5ton. Determined the duct was too small and it was apparently humid in this is "basement". 3 sides are underground. 1 side is open to the outside.

    Went with a 2.5ton hp with 037 AHU.

    New lineset. The old one was 1-1/8 x 1/2"

    Running new 3/4 x 3/8

    I ripped out the soundline that was in the ductwork. More pics to come.

    There was a model 1700 dehumidifier that sat on 4x4s infront of the old AHU.

    I am terrible at taking before pictures. Wish i took them before i started ripping it out

    Aren’t those ducts off the top going to get a large portion of the air? Whats being done for balancing?

    Balancing done at the registers. They are 24x24 layins.

    A scoop was added inside the transition to make the air go into the duct coming off the left.

    The 3/8 is bothering me. Ill probably tuck it in and hide it to the right.

    Did static testing.
    .5" at blower
    .13" in supply
    TESP- .63"

    Did electric heat cfm method and compared. Pretty close. Moving 1098cfm on low speed

    2.5ton outdoor with 037 indoor.

    Existing system was 5tons. No way ductwork was capable of moving that much air. So i downsized to match the ductwork. Ductwork could not be redone.

    Ran new lineset and got her down to 88 microns and weighed in additional charge.

    Will see how she runs over the weekend and will be back monday to start on the final 2, 4ton units.

    They will be trane h/p with unico ecm fan coils

    It's times like this that I wish I had a camera/computer/Internet access/calculator/etc in my back pocket many years ago.
    I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.
