Reconnect the two halves with the next size up tubing.
Replacing the evaporator coil on a reach in cooler and the last foot or so of the cap tube broke off. Given the hassle in replacing the entire cap tube, any acceptable way to re attach or splice on a new section?

Yeah, done it a few times myself, everything worked fine afterwards.
I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.
Get yourself a micro flare block and swedging kit. I'm just kidding, well at least I think I'm kidding. I have also had success with using a small chunk of 1/4" or 3/8" tubing (and a Channellocks) to splice a cap tube back together.
