Oxbox was meant to be the sell to all, volume brand. Home stores selling right to the public, anyway to sell, that was the idea. Sales were a flop. Guy in charge of it is LONG gone from Trane. They gave them to Trane DSCs to get rid of them. When Ameristar was hatched, Midea was told no rotary compressors. Guess that didn't apply to Oxbox

Instead of Ameristar, Trane is geting the Run Tru by Trane. It is all made in Trane plants in US now except the usual parts & compressors. Eventually the same product will be sold by American Standard distributors as Ameristar. Sorry Media.

Rheem tried that back when... with the name:

    SureComfort

Product was sold as a HD brand... you could go buy the equipment in the HD store and have the local guy install it.
As I understand... this was mostly small town and rural stores.

Wonder why Trane thinks they can make this work...
    When Rheem could not...

You can add 10 years parts coverage from third parties and it is pretty cheap. Google Extended Warranty Runtru. Trinity Warranty offers it.

SureComfort was shut down in 2015 as I understand it... all the stock was sent to Atlanta...
A friend of mine was running the warehouse most of it was sold from.

The name was brought back in, I think, 2018 or 2019... as an additional name along with WeatherKing (base line Rheem/Ruud equipment).

Last I heard, the line has the old cube design, along with the newer furnace design.

I don't know anything about them. I have a friend that sells Sure Comfort. Here is a pic of what the current outdoor unit looks like. I'm not sure if it's an old design or not.

    Hmmm...

When I first saw them a year or so ago... they were the old cube...

That is definitely the new Rheem/Ruud look.

I can see it now, grass caked up in the bottom of that thing.
Why ask for advice, when you are going to ignore it anyways?!

Just a Rheem without the cabinet. Now being sold by distributors. In Chicago I believe G A Larson, our Rheem distributor, has Sure Comfort.

Went to their web-site and entered my zip code, no dealers within 100 miles ( search went from 10 -100 miles ) Kind of reminds me when Coors beer was a regional brand.. Says they have extended labor warranties and depending on which extended plan you get some are transferable.

Not sure about the Rheem shop down here in Atlanta...

However the Ruud shop does NOT have them...
