Low suction low head pressure and gurgling

Hi there and I hope I’m posting this on the right place.

I am a marine mechanic and am currently having trouble with our dometic Hvac ac system on a boat. We are in the middle of nowhere and the Boss doesn’t want to move the boat until I can tell him what’s going on.

    System is running R22

I have low suction pressure (45psi) and low superheat, lines frozen all the way from the condenser to the compressor.

Discharge pressure is 155psi-165 and the discharge lines are hot to touch.

The evaporators is water cooled but seams to be working fine as the refrigerant line out is room temp.

There is also a bit of a gurgling sound coming from the unit.

    Current temp is 73f

Hope I gave y’all all the info that’s needed.

    Cheers

    Questions that need answers.
Model and serial of said unit. Evaps water cooled? Smh idk... Condenser? Check the evap coil (that air flows past to cool you) to make sure its very clean. Other then that. This isn't a diy site, so not much can be said.

Yer sorry condenser is raw water cooled, it’s been a long day.
Evaporator is clean and the blower is working fine.

No model or serial number to speak of just a sticker with the Hz on the compressor.

Guessing Evaporator/and or suction line is icing?

And sorry I realize it’s not a diy site. I just don’t know what else to do, closest big city is Cienfuegos and even then I don’t think they will let Cubans aboard. There rules not ours.

Evaporator is fine, clean and no icing at all. Lots of airflow over it. Suction line ices up as soon as unit kicks on

I thought so as well so I added 1/2 a pound of refrigerant and still low suction pressure so I removed it. Still same problem

What is the factory charge amount? On some systems, half a pound won't make a difference, after the system is so low

What was the condensers entering water temp when you took the readings, and the GPM going through the condenser.
