    OK, thanks for listing the factors that should be taken into consideration.

    At only $522/year savings it might take several years to pay back.

    But the savings might be higher. We are assuming that the current MAU is pushing 1,500 cfm. It may be pushing more than that. The people who have commented on the videos that I made of air entering and exiting my apartment all said that there is excessive flow rate. So perhaps when they replaced the MAU in 2007 they installed a larger unit - who knows.

    Also there would be improvements to the living environment. As it is right now, the MAU makes it more difficult to cool my apartment at night because it keeps pumping in room temperature air. Also, when I crack a window open a bit, the outside air doesn't flow into my apartment because the MAU is creating a slight positive pressure, forcing air out instead. These aren't such big problems but it would be nice if they were resolved.

    One part of the design of the MAU is to make the hallway positive to control offensive odors from cross contaminating other condos.
