    All Things "E"

I've started this thread to report/discuss upcoming developments & products in the battery powered sector with an emphasis on transportation but not be limited to that as the world as we knew it is/has changed & battery's will become a bigger part of our life's (generally speaking).

This weekend is the Los Angeles Auto Show & I predict there will be a LOT of EV concepts as well as releases shown.

Tesla will be revealing their Cybertruck this Thursday & Ford just announced their all electric Mustang SUV NOTE: excessively long Video/infomercial. Skip to the 20 min mark to see the car.

Last night 60min had a story on the vast supply of rare earth metals located at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

I won't argue on the Taurus name but at 459 horsepower and 612 lb.-ft. of torque (GT), it ain't no slouch.

It's not so much Fast (limited to about 150mph)
    but rather QUICK!!!

On August 23, 2016, Tesla introduced the Model S P100D with ludicrous mode as its new top-level car, with all-wheel drive and an improved EPA estimated range of 315 mi (507 km).[99] This version of the Model S is notable for being the first electric vehicle to have an EPA estimated range greater than 300 miles (485 km) and for being the fastest accelerating vehicle currently in production, with a 060 mph (097 km/h) time of 2.5 seconds, when optioned with ludicrous mode.

In my opinion, too much $$$$ to be much of a large scale contender once the Big Boy's jump in but we shall see.

I hope Tesla has a pickup that looks a little more main stream, I dont think the "cyber truck" will sell in it's current look.

Electric cars are faster off the line. All other factors aside combustion takes time.

Tesla has not released any (clear) images yet (other then what you see here).... https://www.teslarati.com/teslas-fut...in-the-making/
So we will have to wait another 2 hrs (8:00 PM PST) to know how wild it is.

    What is a Truck?
Did we see one revealed at last nights Tesla event?
    https://youtu.be/3-WejNhPhiY

For some, a truck MUST haul full sheets of plywood with ease.
For others it must haul their single ATC.
    Unfortinitly Tesla chose the latter

After seeing such beautiful renderings of many talented artists best guess on what the Model P would look like, I was SHOCKED at what I saw until I heard the reason for the hard lines.
It's an exoskeleton design so aparintly the skin is the bone (not fully clear on this).

I'm sure it will haul full sheets of plywood with the tailgate down & I'm curious to see if any provisions have been incorporated into the design to accommodate overhead racks.

I think I'm starting to warm up to it certainly not from its looks but rather from its utilitarian aspect.
The stats look impressive & the cost reasonable.
A bit disappointed it won't have four motors got even greater off-road capabilities but perhaps future models will.

At least this will insure that the Big Boys offer their own E-trucks soon.

Uhm, they made it bulletproof I suspect because a multitude of people were actively trying to kill that monstrosity.

I actually have been holding off swapping mine out based on the thought it might be cool to get one, now that I have seen it I will pass.

I never knew much about Musk but from his performance last night I am at a loss as to how he got ahead. He looked like a future son in law showing up to Chanukah with pineapple glazed ham.
