I have this weird thermostat looking dial on what seems to be my return duct.
Not sure what it is.
I have a central air unit that cools very well in the summer time but the air upstairs is cool in the winter. I'm wondering if this is some sort of damper.

Them things work off of a piece of horse hair that's inside of them.
When it gets too dry the horse hair curls up or something and makes the humidifier turn on.

It may have connected to a "funk rotisserie" type humidifier. the foam wheel basting in nasty juices in the pan, and a nice window in the cover to watch the show.
