I never have liked them because they require me to download a manual because i dont have it memorized.
I have always used the t series honeywell or Trane basic thermostats. I also like the 8000 and the iaq. If you couldn't tell i like honeywell.

Don't know what a T80 is. We use White Rodgers stats. Model # starts 1F something usually.

I know you said you were seeking alternatives to honeywell, but I just installed a honeywell 9000 wifi. Customer loves it. Can check the temp in the house or adjust the stat from anywhere. Picked it up on Amazon for 140. The install was so quick and painless. Less than 30 minutes and out the door.

Rare to have a problem with a WR stat. We use the Sensi as our basic WiFi stat. The 1F85U-42PR for 2 stage heat or heat pump, programmable or not and 1F86-0244 for single stage non programmable. We also sold a lot of the blue touch screen stats, about the size of a Vision Pro, modified for Rheem's old modulating furnaces.
