    Thought I would start a thread of famous quotes... (no, not soundbytes)...
    Hopefully one or more will prompt thought and discussion.

    Here is one from the words of Marcus Tillius Cicero as written by Taylor Caldwell in her book Iron Pillar, the story of the fall of the Roman Empire and the statesman Cicero who tried in vain to save the republic he loved from the forces of tyranny.

    The part highlited is the key to the saying...

    One must become a productive part of the community... to receive equal protection under the law.
    That would, IMO, include:
    *Citizenship
    *Assimilating into the culture (speak the language, learn the customs, get along with the folks who were her before you)
    *Contributing to the betterment of the whole community
    In simple words; becoming one of the folks, not an outsider!

    Now how many of the foreigners recently in the USA...
    Are doing that???
