Open Air with suction solenoid ?

Buddy of mine was hooking up this New Open Air cooler and apparently had a blonde moment

He couldnt get it to run right

It kept shutting off on LP

He asked for a second set of eyeballs

I get there and see gauges on the outside unit , its bouncing between 20 and 5 psi , it comes on , shuts off , comes on , shuts off

    High side 250

I hook my gauges inside the case and I have 250 high , 100 low

    What ?

    Hows that possible ?

Oh looky here ... a 7/8 line solenoid on 75 ft lineset

    Solenoids gotta be restricting

Take it apart , it still looks new

Look under body of it , and the IN was facing the cond unit

Im like , turn this doohicky around and you're good to go !

Calls me back hour later , its running great

I've never seen a suction line solenoid used for pump down ..... hmm .... Why ??
