Found this beauty at a public housing complex. The pex is rated for 180 degrees but not for boiler use. There was another boiler installed similar to this one, and they used shark bite fitting for everything! Shark bite claims their products are good for 200 degrees.

the B&G flow controls mounted 90 degrees off level are a nice touch
my boss thinks its possible to repeal the laws of physics
At least he's 'pumping away'. Easy air elimination until the pipes leak...

Hope they used O2 barrier PEX on this or the boiler will be rotting out in a few years.
Does not look like shark bite fittings. Copper compression clamps on PEX perhaps?

Here is the one with shark bite fittings. The site manager wants me to write up something as to why all of this is wrong so the installing hack will be made accountable for this and fix it properly.
this would be written up and shut down until corrected in my area many things are wrong and spell HACK Install allover it sad as its a good system other wize
What gets me is the Virginia Uniform Mechanical Code does not mention what is the proper pipe material or fittings to use when installing a boiler. The IOM book for this boiler also did not spell out the proper pipe to use unless you use pex then it needs to be O2 barrier pex. Common sense would just say using non-metallic pipe near the boiler is just stupid.
