    PHM...

As soon and the chain and sprocket are in place, before you button it up, look in the hole while you crank it by hand......

I will change the fuel filter.

Getting the gas tank filled before the engine runs is likely more work that I'm up for. And heretofore the engine has freely started even when the fuel light has been on.

Once I get the timing chain renewed and it all bolted back together under cover I'll see what the Snap-On live data scanner has to say.

For $9K my son would have come down and diagnosed it for you. May have even fixed it for you for that price.

I know Forscan has a program for Ford products which is as good or almost as good as a dealer scanner for a low price or is possibly free. I know some versions are free. It works through the ELM327 modules. I wonder if there is an equivalent for GM

When I was still in the shop, I think they went for at $2k for the basic package, and additional cartridges were additional cost.

    Well . . . . .

I got the old sprockets off and the new ones partially on but was stopped by this oddity:

The original chain tensioner looks like this:

    https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTP9...+tensioner+arm

Of course; no one has it in stock.

The "timing chain & sprocket kit" that everyone Does stock has a chain tensioner which looks like this in it:

    https://tinyurl.com/y4zze2r2

Even if I try to buy the tensioner as an individual part - it looks like the elaborate one.

And no one seems to know if the elaborate one is some kind of upgrade, universal-fit, or whatever. It comes with some pins for which my block does not seem to have holes. It actually looks to me as though it may interfere with the timing cover.

NAPA says they are getting me one of the original version type.

So I haven't been working on the truck.

I'll see if I can get a picture onto this computer of what I Have been working on.
