That means no applicants in 2019.

Kids can code in their mom's basement and make 50k without getting dressed. Do you think they will climb a ladder in a Rochester winter to struggle with an old York...for the same money?

That is crazy to believe that.

That decision is not mine to make. I agree with you though. We have brought in dozens of guys off the street and probably 5% have panned out. We put them through our school and all that. Just very hard we have been stuck in neutral for years now because of lack of techs.

TB, your post did make me laugh regarding the ladder in Rochester with the old York. That’s the time when I say to myself “WTF am I doing here”...

    Get ready.

That 5% that the industry is seeing is going to go to 2% unless more pay and benefits are offered.

In the past 20 years, the airlines had to DOUBLE their pay for new First Officers, because no one was applying. The really motivated, smart young pilots out of Embry Riddle, Perdue U, and UND are all going military/NASA/corporate.

Looks like the OP needs to raise his rates.

Boss sent me an email yesterday, telling me he was giving me a raise. Or maybe it was the day before. And I'm the highest paid tech where I am. I also produce more than any other tech where I currently am.

You pay low wages for cheap help, seems to me kinda difficult to grow a respectable business.

Unless you have someone like me to answer the phone when the rookies call for help, LOL.
If you were a real tech, you'd solder a relay on that board and call it good to go.

I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

I use 56% silver on everything except steel.

Did you really need the " If you were a real tech " ??

Makes a lot of sense if your boss is hvac-talk.com cause you are here 24/7 and deserve a raise for your dedication to posting crap here!
There is not better place for the working men than the union! 100% UA the only HVAC union!
