    flaring tool new vs old

are there any differences between the older 2 piece flaring tools and the newer orbital with clutch like the hilmor besides more user friendly features. I was told the older tools dont make correct flares for 410a etc. I currently use a yellow jacket 60440.

I still use an “old school” flare tool. Probably only use it 10-15 times a year right now. And it’s works great by the way. The newer ones I have used when I was installing and they are faster, easier, less space to use. I used the ridgid brand and it was great. Flare tools come mostly in 35° or 45° type, this is the shape of the cone it makes. I have always used the 45 for my work. Any 45 flare should all be the same no matter the tool. As I said tho I don’t do much flaring these days.

I've been using the Speed flare, and swage kits. Seem to work ok. Holds pressure test and vacuum so far. I always us a deburring tool before using though.
