No one interested in HVAC internship in Hillsboro OR?

    Folks,

This is for my understanding, but if someone is interested, please let me know.
I am a recruiter and have a hard time to find someone who is pursuing an A.A.S in HVAC and wants to pass an internship with us. We offer good pay and conditions, how come that no one applies? Is the idea so uncommon?
Besides Community Colleges, where else could I look?
    Thanks for your inputs!

The fact he’s in Oregon probably doesn’t help this matter, but was trying to give him a glimmer of hope.oh crap I assumed the op’s pronoun

Thanks for the feedback, my email is in my profile, email me and I'll send you the details. I am a legitimate recruiter for the biggest semiconductor manufacturer and not a headhunter or so.

In order to tease the people out of mom's basement that we will need in the next 20 years, this industry is going to have to offer in excess of $75,000..... because right now they can sit in their mom's basement, play fortnite whenever they want to, and if they can write apps for the iPhone they can make $50,000 and never leave the house.

So how are you going to get them onto a roof in the summer time or the winter time doing service for somebody's air conditioning or heating?

Could be a good “in” to the facilities technician career. Being a blue badge is interesting. Large tonnage trane low pressure centrifugals, clean rooms, etc.... but a very strange work environment.

17-18 bucks an hour or so, no box cutters allowed on site, super safety sensitive... I never finished med school but I can guess why you have few applicants.

Here's the answer, whether you like it or not:

Do you have any children? If so, did you encourage them to get into blue collar trades? Or did you pay their way to higher education?

You see, it is the parents encouraging their children to not get into the trades.

Combine that with not learning so many skills the rest of us learned as teenagers, while we learned how to fix our cars. Those skill gave us kids great experience.

I won't even get into the social media thing.

But yes, if you have kids, but did not encourage them to get into the trades, then you are the problem.

The OP isn't even in this country.
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and stamps EVER.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals". Their stated reason for this policy "... the animals become dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

These days, doesn't need to be. Many services are out sourced or contracted outside of our borders.

    Okay.

But then without knowledge of the location or feel for the business, all that can be used to find what is desired is a set of parameters given by the employer.

Whoever has contracted with the OP is buying on price, rather than effectiveness in our market segment.

BTW...most American airplanes go to Costa Rica for painting.

They use the same paint (which are actually high tech coatings) and they do an excellent job...for much less...and no EPA problems.

This is an example of work that we have forced out of the country. It's like all of the concern about "carbon." People here want to eliminate carbon emissions.

But, half of the population of India cooks using firewood. No telling how many people use wood and coal in China.

With that being true, any impact we make in the US would be barely larger than a statistical error.

But, you can't tell them that. They are true believers in the greatest hoax in history.

As a former college student, I would suggest reaching out to technical colleges as well as community ones.
Technical colleges are geared more towards certain skill sets, trades, and professions. Some of them offer degrees in HVAC.
I would also post on job sites like LinkedIn, Indeed, and more to reach more potential candidates.

When I hear people talk about eliminating carbon, I get a cheap thrill out if it, knowing how stupid they must be. They don't even know they are a carbon based life form. Didn't we learn that in school, or from Star Trek?
