    Is Johnson Controls GGT Retiring?

I was downloading Microsoft Silverlight the other day and saw a banner saying it was ending support in Octorber 2021. Since Johnson Controls Graphics Generation Tool relies on MS Silverlight, I was wondering what was going to happen. Is GGT being retired as well? or it there a version that does not rely on Silverlight.

Just looking for any rumors that may be floating around.

    Yes.

I think silver light was already dead when jci rolled out GGT graphics.

How is it working with the Graphics Package and Editor?

Is it like GGT? It would seem like the Silverlight route was an easy way to get to market, and they would reengineer to guts to get away from it as time went by, but keep it mostly the same on top. Is that what it looks like Bigguy?

So the Graphics Package and Editor are transitional?

    Can you please define MUI?

    Thanks for the responses!

The MUI is replacing the traditional SMP that you currently access Metasys with. The MUI (Metasys User Interface) is an all HTML5 platform independent UI that doesn’t require launcher—just a browser. The graphic editing is all built into the UI. The MUI cannot currently run on an NAE only site. There has to be an Ads or Adx

    Cool, thanks!

So the Graphics Package and Editor are transitional? Started in 8.1, ends in 9.0?

No, not transitional. That is what is built into MUI. It is the new MUI graphics. The current rev of MUI is 4.0 (10.0 Metasys) 4.1 will be out in a couple weeks.

Oh, I see. When did MUI start? In our locality I have only seen GGT (and older). We have a few 8.1 and 9.0 jobs out, all in GGT.

MUI 1.0 was rolled out at Metasys 7.0. However, most branches felt that it wasn’t ready for prime time until MUI 2.1 (Metasys 8.1). MUI 3.0 was a big leap, as was MUI 4.0.
The plan is to keep adding features into MUI, and subtracting them from the SMP. So far, they have just been adding to MUI. But, starting with MUI 4.1, the user security databases will have to be managed in the MUI instead of the SMP.
The SCT Pro is the HTML5 version of that tool and will follow the same road map...adding features to pro and subtracting from SCT.

    Helpful! Thanks JCIMan

So I should start seeing it in Rev10.0/10.1 all over.

Any news on the transferability of GGT to MUI? Conversion tools and such? GGT was VERY easy to work with, is MUI the same?

Is there any expectation that the GGT stuff might start crapping out at or around the Silverlight end of life that may encourage/force some upgrades to 10.0+?
