Idontgetit, thanks but the door to be opened and closed at least 40times a day. Switching fan for 40times per day is a NB big issue.

Thanks but even at night when the atmosphere is cool, it keeps melting.

Can you build a small insulated room / area over the ice storage chest and air condition the room to say 75º or less?

I’m confused on two things here-
Why is the door opened and closed so many times for a simple ice block freezer?
Making ice doesn’t require an exceptionally low temperature environment. What is the holding temperature of this box where it’s unable to freeze certain parts of the block?

The ice blocks are made in another unit. This chest freezer is only for storage of completed blocks.

I don't even understand what he's trying to do or what the equipment is.

Anyone willing to explain it to me? Perhaps I can help.

The iceblocks are used to cool soft drinks and bottle water for commercial purposes so the iceblocks are expected to be very dry so as to last long. It won't retain its form Using air-conditioned room. This is Nigeria, temp of about 36 Deg cent.

The iceblocks are to be used in areas without power supplies for commercial purpose. Transportation is not via refrigerated van.

It's sold at retail level at sale site. At least 40 buyers come at different times.

Why not build a small cooler that you would walk through to get to freezer door?

    You miss my point.

If the door / hatch / lid / or whatever you are opening was inside of another room - which was cooled to, for example; 70º F. - the ice under the center of your storage facility would not melt. Because the air over the lid would not be 97º F.

So you would NOT need more lid insulation OR more storage box refrigeration.

Build a 25' by 25' by 7' walk-in box over your present storage chest and cool it to some lower temperature: 40-50-60º F.

I have am running out of imagination. Make it easier on me: Post some pictures. <g>

Is the idea to run refrigerated tubing at the door openings to keep it cooler? Like adding an overhead cooling source?

From the way the OP describes it, this is constructed much like a typical home chest freezer with the evaporator in the walls, except it's huge...15 ft x 15ft x 5 ft high. He wants to add evaporator tubing to the door, which is the top of the box. The added refrigeration to the top is intended to solve a the problem of the ice melting in the center of the box.

    Wow, okay.

So how do they get the ice blocks out if it's 5' tall, how big are the ice blocks?

What about a suspended evaporator or something of the sort near the center?
