    Walk-in Freezer Superheat

    Ok its not running right

Ok so I went with a 7000 btu evap by Trenton TPLP207LE-S2B-R6 according to the sheet i saw online

( dealer called it a 7500 for some reason )

    Compressor is

    5170 BTUH @ -20 SST @ 90 AMB
    7160 BTUH @ -10 SST @ 90 AMB

a day later it wont pull below 15 , just hovers there

    I go check it out

    Ambient outside 80

    High 265

    Low 42

    Line Temp 15 ( at pump )

So I have 5 deg SH

Had some bubbles so I topped it off , no change

    Evap clean , no snow

Crank the TXV ( in ) a bunch of turns , didnt see much change

Turn all way in , back out 1 turn ( i dont like to leave them snugged in )

    Low 38 psi , Line Temp 11

    STILL 5 DEG SH

Didnt check SC , but the filter felt like your typical warm drier

    Lineset length 12 ft

My initial thought says the TXV isn't doing what it's supposed to do...ie, control superheat.

Did somebody assemble this valve for you and forget to put a cartridge in it? I've heard of that before.

Never trust, therefore verify. Replace the valve.

I once forgot to tighten down the cartridge in a Sporlan Q valve and got the same kind of floodback.

The TXV came with assembled to the evaporator coil -

Is there sub cooled liquid refrigerant at the TXV inlet?

Is the TXV bulb's full length snug and secure to the suction line?

If the TXV correct for the system's refrigerant?

If three yes answers the TXV is defective or the inlet screen is plugged.

Oh you're right - doing too many things at once here. Delete my inlet screen reference. <g>

Can you think of any thing else I have overlooked?

    What's the defrost setup ?
Personally I'd eliminate them till frost shows up.
Also what were the TEV spec's ?
